REI Systems Awarded $1.4M |
REI Systems to support the Department of Homeland Security, Office of Science and Technology Broad Agency Announcement and Small Business Innovative Research Portal Services |
| Herndon, VA – May 28, 2009 - REI Systems (REI) announced today that they were awarded a contract by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Directorate for Science and Technology (S&T) to automate the administration of the Agency’s Broad Agency Announcements (BAA) and Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) award processes. The scope of the contract includes the implementation of a secure web portal to manage end-to-end BAA and SBIR proposal management activities that include solicitation development, proposal submission and evaluation, and finally contract award. REI was awarded a 1-year, $670K contract with options to extend the contract to 5-years and $1.4M. DHS S&T evaluated three existing Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) SBIR portals – from the Army, Navy, and NASA – and selected the NASA SBIR solution, developed by REI. The S&T Directorate, in partnership with the private sector, national laboratories, universities, and other government agencies (domestic and foreign), helps push the innovation envelope and drive development and the use of high technology in support of homeland security. The Directorate focuses on enabling its customers—the DHS components—and their customers, including Border Patrol agents, Coast Guardsmen, airport baggage screeners, Federal Air Marshals, and state, local, and Federal emergency responders, as well as the many others teamed and committed to the vital mission of securing the Nation. “REI applauds the S&T Directorate for its Good-Government approach in first evaluating existing GOTS products to fulfill this requirement. S&T’s approach, combined with our decade of SBIR experience and full knowledge of the NASA SBIR GOTS system will allow us to automate S&T’s BAA and SBIR processes in a shorter timeframe than it would have taken without the use of the GOTS capability” said Veer Bhartiya, REI Systems President. “We thank our NASA customer for their support in sharing this reusable technology. Successful commercialization of SBIR-funded technologies is a key goal of the SBIR program; this is a fine example of inter-Government technology infusion, one for all Agencies to follow.” |
